ParticipantI have come to a few Saturday Race the Rockies practice sessions this year, just to get a feel for how a race weekend goes. I will see if I can muster a few hours to check it out.
To be honest, I really wanted to get a DD2 kart, as I’ve always had some affinity for them. But, trying to find one in good condition is pretty tough, and I heard that they are not the most reliable ROTAX setups right now. So, I figured a TaG would suit me fine for now. In that process, little did I realize I was signing up for one of the largest competition fields in the region. Oh well, I’ll just try to stay out of everybody’s way…..
Gotcha about the street thing. While I am not a safety pioneer by any means, I don’t want to do something that will assuredly hurt/kill me. I was comfortable doing a couple 3-4 house pulls on a sparsely used residential street on a Sunday afternoon. I live in a semi-rural area, so seeing an ATV or even a motocross bike on the roads is not uncommon.

ParticipantAhhh, didn’t know the EVO engine was required next year.
It would be fun to get a few of us up north together at IMI for some fun laps one afternoon.

ParticipantAs careless as it sounds, the only time I’ve ridden in it was a couple times back and forth up my street. Once the clutch grabs, this thing really hauls, nothing like the Sodi rentals at TTAC. According to the MyChron, the engine only has 1.9 hours on it. It is a ROTAX FR125, setup to run ROTAX Seniors or Masters. Since I am 33 years old and about 180 lbs, I would be in the Seniors class.
No girls yet, but I couldn’t handle anymore (wife + 2 daughters). But I must say I do look stunning in my new Alpinestars suit setup.
I have two spare FR125 engines the previous owner sold me with the kart, each one needs different work on them. Do you think it would be worth forking over the money to upgrade with the EVO package while its being rebuilt? I’d most likely go to Unser for rebuilds, as this is probably the closest ROTAX dealer to me.

ParticipantNow that I’m into karting (and have a ROTAX to boot), this made me laugh a ton. Good link!
