To Ken, Doug and anyone else who may be interested in this thread. I would like to clarify the intent of SBR’s SCKC (Southern Colorado Karting Challenge) We are trying to bring competitive Karting back to the people in this area !! ( South of Castle Rock ) As most old timers know George ruined Karting in the Springs area at the end of CRE. Now SBR’s goal, is to target and bring new people into the sport. Not dilute the attendance of the real Series of the CKT or the CSC. And to the existing Karting community The SCKC should be seen as a fun race day with a free BBQ at the end of the day. I’m not asking anyone ( North of Castle Rock ) to come and participate unless you want to!! The SCKC is an event series basically for new to karting people to experience a race day atmosphere with out the race day stress and pressures of a CKT or CSC event. And all it has done is cost me revenue to try and increase your numbers!! I see the sport of Kart racing has a revolving door. If you want to increase your numbers you have to bring more people in than are going out. So I know I’m kind of sheltered out here in the sticks. But is there any other facility in the state making an effort or sacrifice to bring people in?? My point The SCKC is not even in the same league as the CKT or CSC , we are not in competition for any one’s racing budget. And if you’d like to just come down for a fun day of racing you are all welcome. Regardless of your political views LOL

    To Stan, Tony, & Stacey

Thank you all very much for the praise !!

Ivy and I have put many hours of hard work and lots of money into making SBR a first rate karting facility for everyone to enjoy. Our hard work was rewarded when all who attended said they liked the track, it was fun, and thought the facility was great!!

However I was sadden and disappointed to think there are so many karters so close, but for what ever reason they had, could not make the effort to participate in this event, it really was there loss.

And to finish Ivy and I would like to thank everyone who attended for making a fun weekend at SBR. :jump

Hey Scott just thought I’d take the opportunity to let the racer’s that don’t have the budget or not wanting to drive for 8 hours to race at Miller, that SBR has there season opener on the 4th & 5th of May also. Hosted jointly by the PPKRC & CJKC . So every one is welcome to come down and check out the the facility improvements for 2013. We have electricity to the timing & scoring shack and club house, new wireless PA system & FM broadcaster, A new blower for keeping the track cleaner, and a track maintenance / recovery vehicle. New Flag pole & Flags. And more to come !!

    David:

I have never been contacted by Skusa. So I just assumed they didn’t want to run an event on a short challenging track like SBR. I guess it’s to hard for the shifter guys that can only drive on tracks with a long drag racing straight away.

Also I think a state wide series should be a step in your ladder for the racers and teams that don’t have the deep pockets or desire to race at a regional level

    Curt & Cris :

You may be right, I could be wrong, It wouldn’t be the first time and probably won’t be the last. But in theory it looks good on paper. And I will try to clarify my thought’s on this subject in this post.

I believe if the racer’s put together an association, administrated by Honest Competent business men knowledgeable in karting, that could put together a state wide series that would be comprised of 1 race at each track that would (participate), it would take the equation out of the picture that the track owner’s get along or have to work together or compete for recognition.

Further more the lose of recognizable rental kart revenues would be minimized with a one day excusive use of the track per season with rentals worked in with controlled practice on Saturday, and we all know that’s doable. So why wouldn’t the track owner’s support such a program. I see it as a win win scenario for all involved.

And for all the rest of you out there watching this tread who truly would like to see a state wide series come together. The only thing I see happening in 2013 if anything, would be ground work and prep. for a 2014 Series. And that is optimistic at best.

Also I would like to publicly invite Jim, Stacey, Brad, & JD to sign in and comment, whether it be good , bad or indifferent about my thought’s on the subject. I am just new at this so I still have a lot to learn or maybe a fresh perspective?

Ok guys I kind of feel responsible for getting this thread opened up. I am watching it and do not see it going in a positive direction. I see wining, pessimistic comments, finger pointing, and off topic distraction So here’s my input for what its worth. I do think a state wide series would be awesome but I don’t think it’s the track owner’s responsibility to make it happen. If the racer’s truly want a state wide series they should unite into a comity, association or club, put together a plan, then propose it to the track owner’s. I’m just the new kid on the block but I truly believe the track owner’s responsibility, is to support such a proposal that would be in the best interest of all. I know I am willing to entertain such a proposal. So lets get back to coming up with a solution. To putting together a 5 to 6 event state wide series
