ParticipantHey man, I wouldn’t waste your time or energy. Have fun with your son karting and who gives a F#ck about any track owner, etc. No one matters but you and your family. Have fun, treat others with respect, and who gives a crap right? Its honestly not worth it, especially since this is about B.S. over a computer, feel me?
Cheers

ParticipantI’d agree with the solid flex…..but it could possibly put more strain on the header pipe against the head. The only issue we had with the flex was it crushing and making the pipe too small……happened to me at Reno when it went to 403mm….got DQ’d out of a 3rd place.
Did you see any other issues with the solid Taylor? Good advice though for sure, i always hated the crushing of the flex pipe.
Charles Schendzielos
ParticipantWe used to have to measure it from the beginning of where the header meets the cylinder head, to the first crease in the exhaust pipe.
Start at 405mm…….shorter i believe will make it have more Top end…..longer more torque and bite off the low end.

ParticipantGreetings from Canada. Will try and make it there for a little fun when im back April 22nd-25th. Heard Kirk had fun…….its so nice to have a track VERY close to my family’s house.

ParticipantGod bless Paul Dana. Just learned from his bio he had attended the Bridgestone Academy where I’m at 10 years ago.
“Dana got his start in racing in 1996 by working as a mechanic at the Bridgestone Racing School in Ontario, where he won his first races. The training program there paid in seat time instead of cash. Without family financial support, it was the only way for Dana to get behind the wheel of a racecar. When he wasn’t driving, Dana built gearboxes and did other racecar preparation work.”
pretty incredible guy…….worked his way up to be where he was at.
God Bless

ParticipantDo an SK-5 Arai……GREAT fitting, VERY light…….awesome helmet. Bell dominator is a sweet helmet too, a bit cheaper than the Arai.
I lucked out and got Mike Speed to sell me Scott’s for REALLY cheap.
If you can afford it, do an Arai. All helmets have a 5 year shelf life. If you want to race cars…..Snell 98 i believe is what you need minimum.
Don’t worry about the ratings, get a new or 1 year old Simpson, Bell, or (the best) Arai. All the newer helmets meet all requirements for karting
That’s all you need, have a sweet season :sun:

ParticipantRecommend Arai, they’re the shyt.

ParticipantIf you don’t run in rain, you put a lot of the developing young talent in Colorado at a serious DISadvantage if they want to compete nationally, either this year or in the future.
Run rain or shine…….we’re all real racers here….and can make the most out of our weather no matter what.
Only thing that can/should stop us is snow…….

ParticipantHow many 4-cycles have signed up out of curiousity?
I agree, racing is racing……hope you guys have fun.

I think 9 races are too many, especially for the western Colorado guys. It seemed to me that the number of entries tailed off a bit at the end of last season with only 7 races. I’d prefer 1 race at each track – 5 races total with no drops. I think that would lead to bigger CSC fields and still leave resources and time available to race other races.
Charles
9 sets of MG yellows at “suggested” price of $180.00= $1620
9 Entry fees of $65 +membership = $685
$2300 to go race this year not including any other fees, travel, gas…..or spare tires to practice on. So about $3000.
Racing ain’t cheap.
But, if you did 5 Stars races, you’d think that was peanuts 😀
I bet the spec racer 125 class will be at least $1300 a race w/travel.So if you wanted to race the CSC and all of the Stars dates…..
10,000 dollars 😯
That’s if you have a free go-kart.
And don’t break anything.
:loony: A young guy who would want to race the very talented CSC field as well as the best nationally needs AT LEAST 15 grand cash money to play. This isn’t a sport for the regular people anymore.
And you don’t get to recoup those funds like a kid restoring a 65 Mustang.
Hell, you could build a 500hp Rx-7 for that kind of money.Charles Schendzielos

Blink,
As a matter of fact I have been to a STARS race multiple times. Have you been there to see a race that has been run to a schedule that is adhered too? Also have you been to a race where there is tech after qualifying, pre-final, and final? Brandon does not run at the back of the pack even though I spend far less than 2500 per motor. If you would like to know there are competitors spending up to 5500 per motor “yes for a comer 80”.
Brian Moore,
Father of Brandon #77 comer 80 and novice shifterP.S. I would much rather see my son mid pack at a race with top competitors than first with no competition to race against. I can buy a cheap trophy to throw in the closet with the rest if thats all we are looking for.
Your thoughts are exactly the same as mine. I’d rather run in the middle of a highly talented field then up front against 3 other people.
I think STARS events were awesome………..the schedule was adhered to almost up to the exact minute! I always knew EXACTLY how much time i had to get things done, and i liked it that way.

Stars is going to do a TaG class. At this point, the only engines for sure in the mix are the Leopard, PRD Fireball, Vortex Rok and the EasyKart. I was told that the boost port engines will not be allowed at any weight. Stars wants the Rotax for they know that that is the largest number of Tag engines out there. However, Stars is pay to play. And Rotax ain’t payin! We’ll see who blinks first.
That is why nothing offical is published, they are still hashing out the details. With Scott out of Dodge for much of the past month, the details didn’t get done. I’ve been assured they will be out around the first of the year but that too could get pushed back.
I do know for sure that homologated chassis are NOT required for Tag or cadet. Only JICA, ICC and ICA. Easykart owners will be able to dump that POS chassis and mount the engine on a kart that will handle and make all the changes necessary to get it working. I think the EasyKart will be competitive once mounted on a kart that handles.
Sweet. I’ve heard all those motors are being thrown in the mix. I think the Easykart motor is still a pretty sweet engine
pick a jet and run it. I must of had literally 40+hrs before the piston ring gave out. You’re definately right……..it needs a R32 to mount it to for it to be really competitive. I might try it on a Q31 to see what happens… a buddy of mine has a kart and doesn’t really use it.

Can someone please explain to me what homologation means? Im trying purchase a chassis and I’m a tall guy. So, I guess I need an altered chassis? The RBI I looked at wasnt homologated. So what does that mean? I went to the Stars website and I found a page of homologated chassis and RBI wasnt listed. Does this mean I can’t race Stars. Alan Rudolph raced stars, right? Any information. Please email me.
Thanks
Justin Reede
[email protected]Basically to homologate means that the manufacturer has to “make” a set number of chassis that anyone can purchase…..ala the Porsche 959 was homologated to allow it to race Grouppe B rallying.
I’m assuming this is so a big name chassis manufacturer doesn’t have a bunch of “one-off” frames that are un-obtanium to the public.
If i’m wrong smack me in the mouth like your name is Neil Diamond 😀
