ParticipantAwesome race to watch…….front guys pushing soooo hard to keep Kyle back there…smokin’ the inside tires:)
I noticed Kyle’s midget had no smoke….just pure acceleration….looks like top notch driver and setup win again:)

The senior motors blow up faster 😆
Realize that they spin these things to ungodly revs like an F1 engine and need rebuilds pretty much the same; get two if you’re going to do it…Or 3…..I remember when I did a couple STARS events guys had 2 motors in the seat in Parc Ferme along with the one on the chassis.
But those 100cc at 20,000rpm are niiice. I liiike.
JICA are air cooled and ICA’s are watercooled BTW Larry. I’ve always wanted to have my ass handed to me by David Fore and Giacomo Patrono in that class

It was me with Roman on my lap (holding my beer) We were attempting to find Cunninhams shop so we could sabatage his new Kart. Looks like he might be pretty fast this year. Need to slow that Critical Zone Team down a little.
At least I had Roman wearing a helmet and I had a Bell sticker on my forehead, if it’s any cosolation. :bs:
Haha…i read this on 9news and immediately thought it was you Rick.
Kirk gets to ride on my lap and we’re hitting LODO this weekend.

Eduardo, are you and the rest of the International Brokers team coming out to practice on Sunday?
If not..perhaps you are afraid of my DOMINATOR kart? I had a great time racing with your team last time out.

(can you guys tell this is a slow day at work?)
Dustin and I are coming out to rub wheels with ya Kirk….get ready :rotate:

ParticipantThats great to hear. I’m just sick of this STUPID residents who don’t bring any more jobs, “Commerce” haha, or basically any kind of benefit to our state.
NASCAR would bring tons of $$$$….they’re dumb for not realizing this. Oh yea….i forgot, the beautiful sights and smells of commerce city would be ruined forever by those darn race cars right? lol :bs:
Charles Schendzielos
ParticipantCommerce City is a crap hole.
They’re even trying to rename it because its such an Armpit.
I hate Colorado…worst state for racing besides Wyoming.

There is a lengthy post over at Big West Racing about the proposed NASCAR track in Colorado and there are some references to how many tracks are dissapearing in Colorado. It was even posted that IMI is up for sale. I figured someone has the facts skewed, seems like a silly idea to pave a track that wont be around very long.
Info is coming from a site mostly frequented by Roundy Rounders, what ever thats worth.
Why wouldn’t a NASCAR track be around very long?
I personally think this is maybe one of the worst 5 states for car racing period.
Also, NASCAR is very fun to watch. Watching how those cars get loose at 170mph and how the drivers actually keep them from crashing is truly amazing.

ParticipantThats awesome Richie. I think ALMS and the Speed World Challenge are some of the most fun races to watch out there. My first event was up at Mosport this past September when I was living near there for the Bridgestone MTP racing program. Rainy and crappy out, but damn, there were some weird ass crazy Canadian rednecks there for sure!
We made a BBQ pit out of an old ELF oil 55 gallon drum….they stole it when we left it there one night!I would LOVE to check out the Petit Le Mans race…..I’m going to get my condo sold this spring and try to build a WRX up for the Touring Car series…..just need to find the extra dough, but I think it’s the cheapest way to go “Pro” racing out there. What do you think about the TC class?
🙂

ParticipantOr wait till JPM gets on Smoke’s back bumper and pushes him around:)
Don’t question a fiesty columbian, you see how they all kart…..”rubbin’s racing” for them for sure:)

James,
I wasn’t speaking towards Tag, just in general. What tires are you running at Cre in WF?
Chuck,
5 races 15 sets of tires? We ran 1 set per kart per weekend in the Csc and felt competitve. Maybe a the highest levels of the sport but not at our regional level.
haha, yea, maybe im crazy. I was just thinking a set for testing saturday…fresh ones sunday, then throughout the season a set here or there to test on. That makes it sound alright then….

Hey Chuck, I know what you mean about the Italkart/Leopard package. I’ve pondered that Ital package and easykart as a way to go. As far as WF cost go, the CRE shop has used tag/100cc 30/32 chassis with a new motor ready to go for $2600. I think he has a new WF chassis with new motor for $3400.
I agree with you on the harder tires. I must admit, I would prefer to be in a Rotax, but the tire budget is somewhat of a deal killer at this point in time. I have other considerations as well. To keep my family (wife) happy I only race once a month and the CRE schedule fits that nicely. I’m just a club racer looking for some wheel to wheel action on the cheap. My basic race cost for entry fees, pickup gas, kart gas, tires, oil, pro-rated engine refresh is around $120 per race. Of course there is always breakages that push the real cost higher… chains, sprockets, pods, etc…
Now Rick, by WTF package do mean “What The Fudge” package? 😀
Les, just me, everyone else is from the Springs… Greg Johnson has the brigg mods run here in Denver. It’s a cool class if you like to do the motor work. The WF could run at the back of their class. But there may be enough of a difference that we would have to watch for the blue flag toward the end of the main.

You know, It’s hard being a racer when you hate to buy tires!
Yea, i really feel we should be using the Dunlop Sl-4’s.
Sunoco karters up in Canada use these even for Rotax Max and F1-K (like a CRG/Maxter easykart). They last 4 races….and the diff between new and old one’s isn’t near as great as MG’s. Its levels the playing field quite a bit and decreases costs a ton!
Think about it, to be competitive, you have to have at least 15 sets of MG yellows for a 5 race season (with practice, etc). On the cheap thats like $3000!! Almost the price of the kart.
You could have 5 sets of the Dunlops and cut it to $900 bucks and still be competitive!

I saw a WTF package on ebay not too long ago. Seemed pretty reasonable for a jet powered kart.
I’m sure can sqeeze one more class! 😯
Haha, sounds good. I’m still workin’ on a Cummins TAG kart….it might have to run TAG Heavy…i think it weighs about 1100lbs minus driver and chassis
Charles Schendzielos
ParticipantHow much is the WF package? Reason I ask is that the Italkart/Leopard package is only like $4,000 new, which is a steal.
I just think overall we should all use harder tires…it would half the costs of any package.

Call me Steve Austin..I have been rebuilt better than before. I now have two titanium plates and 12 screws in my upper arm thanks to some poor decision making.
I dropped my 5 yr old off at ski school at 10am, by 1130 am I was screaming in pain at the bottom of a kicker in the terrain park. Too much speed + bad line choice on the ramp sent me WAY too high, i swear i hit a part of the ramp meant to send the rider/skier inverted. I landed with my left arm behind me and I absolutely smashed it. I saw the xray and my arm was about 1.5 inches shorter than normal. The humiris (sp?) bone snapped above the elbow and displaced iself to a new location well below the elbow from the impact. It did not break the skin, but it sure looked spectacular once i got my gear off.
It took 3 hours of surgery to repair it and I’m looking forward to a spectacular scar. ouch. I am already moving the joint in a hinged arm brace and am able to adjust the range of motion. I feel like a fricking robot.
One would think that at age 35 I would have more common sense than to go hit the park with the teenagers. Apparently not. There wasnt any new snow…why shouldn’t i go work on my air? My line of thinking will be different next time.
I have no idea on the time needed for the recuperation. I should be good to go for spring time but my ski season is over.
Looking forward to a couch-bound-drug-hazed weekend.

Dude…that is soooo horrible man. I was looking forward to maybe riding with ya this year. Don’t tell me you went for one of the “Wu-Tang” hits up at Breckenridge….. :loony:

ParticipantI agree with you there Richard. “Trail” Braking really defines staying on the brakes at the point of turn in. This is of course to distribute weight to the front tires, allowing them to bite and “rotate” the car at it’s proper slip angle. I guess with just rear brakes it is a trail brake, but not really in the sense that rear-braked karts have basically no weight to transfer, or slight at best? I don’t know much, as I probably have more car experience then kart.
Just from what I’ve seen and learned, I find it very interesting to see how shifter kart pilots adapt(or don’t adapt) to driving a Formula car. For example, Devin Cunningham was a top shifter pilot in Canada (against Kyle Marcelli, Mike Vincec, Daniel Morad, etc). The kid simply couldn’t grasp the weight dynamics of the Formula car. He was super quick through 1 or 2 corners where he didn’t have to trail brake the car, but otherwise he’d be 1 sec of so off Kyle and Daniel’s pace.
He also won his “Star Racer” show up in Canada and has a free Star Mazda ride….so who knows :idn: .
That will be sweet to have Alan do the test, curious to hear from his experiences which he likes better
