ParticipantLicense program put into place for The Track at Centennial 2009 Mile High Challenge as well as Race the Rockies!
Over the past 3 years, The Track at Centennial has had an influx of new racers and much excitement during their club events. We have noticed that several new karters don’t race due to the intimidation factor during busy race days. On the other side of the coin, several racers have jumped in with both feet without any proper safety training, learning as they go so to speak.
The Track at Centennial license program or as the big series call them “hard cards” is as follows:
“C” License: Club or entry level racing license. Drivers must first attend a free racing safety meeting prior to entering any club level race. Track and racing procedures, flags, racing line, kart safety requirements are just a few items covered.
“B” License: Club and Regional license. Drivers must have fully completed two documented club level races prior to obtaining a “B” License. All Regional racers must have at least a “B” License.
“A” License: Drivers must have either one of the following:
1st place podium at the Regional race
Or
1st, 2nd, or 3rd place podium overall at the end of the season of the Regional series. In addition to the level of competition license, each license will have the racers kart number as a true kart number system. Each number will be class specific. Kart numbers will be based on last year’s registration at The Track and then first paid/ first awarded format. Each racers “Hard Card” with have different colors.
Blue for 5-8 year olds
Red for 9-12 year olds
Green for 13-15 year olds
White for 16 – 34 year olds
Yellow for 35+All racers will be required to have their Hard Card with them on each race day.
The Track at Centennial will have the License applications out shortly in preparation for the 2009 Race season.

Does 2 club races justify significant experience to race with the “best the state has to offer”. There are many fast drivers that run both the club and the state series and it is not apparent how this is going to eliminate any potential clashes. Please help me understand frther.

ParticipantI’m one who has advocated a licensing structure for a long time. Thanks Jim.

ParticipantThanks Doug, You have seen it work. It was an honor to have a SA license in the day of the Pro Moto, i’m sure…
Mr. O’Neil
As far as just two races??? Well, as it stands now, anyone can enter anything they want. I feel that you drive to the level of your competition, and The Track wants to be a little more comfortable that you can do it SAFELY. I want to know how I stack up against the best in my class, so Vegas is the race to find out. For the local racer, I want you to experience the level of competition and race to the best of your ability and be SAFE. It really doesn’t matter where you finish, just do it at a “regional” level of knowledge. Seat time and racing will get everyone to be the regions best!I hope this helps…
Jimps… Andy, thanks for wanting to be a “Hard Card” member…

ParticipantWow Jim,
This is the best news I have seen in 4 years of kart-addiction. Thanks for stepping up; we can’t be taken seriously as drivers without a valid licensing system, period. This will be a huge boost in the credibility of our circuits and our racers. Please send me an application ASAPOld Guys Rule

ParticipantThanks for all of your work with organizing this, Jim. It will help all of us neophytes feel more comfortable engaging in competitive racing!
A little off topic- have you given any thought to a test & tune “season pass”?

Licensing is a good thing! Count me in for obtaining a Hard Card for next year. I could use a refresher on the Safety Indoc as well. We’ll be looking for the sign-up/application.
