Tyler had showed a lot of maturity in that race.

Greg, he did only make one move, but the first time he made that move Tyler was already there.

Craig and Brad are damn good people, Brad made Monte Carlo possible for us (he will help anyone), and Craig has helped me more then about anyone out there, I used to work for him too. Stand up kind of guy. These types of people make racing worth it.

He was only making one move on the front straight but up on the hill, he was coming down then going wide to set up for turn in. (at least from what I saw)

And I think the driver is new and this shouldn’t be a federal case, but he should at least know the consequences. Coming across someone at the very minimum could have cost him a good finish, damage and possible injury. And he is going to be racing with drivers that might not be so nice about that in the future. Also, they weren’t racing for position (with that small of a field you should know who is in your class) and when Tyler got around him he pulled away.

No harm no foul I suppose if both drivers learn something, it’s all good.

I say we all just congratulate Tyler on passing a faster kart even when the guy was blocking. I believe this was also his first TaG race. I think we will see good things from him this weekend.

Now all we have to do is change the bodywork to the same colors as the American flag and the frame rails black 😀 😀

Sorry but I cannot disagree more strongly with “No Harm No Foul”.

This is Open Wheel Racing and blocking or nerfing is dangerous.

Even Michael Schumacher gets black Flagged at times, causing him to lose a lot of money and his place in racing history.

If people don’t get flagged for blocking or nerfing people we WILL have serious accidents. And most likely the person getting nerfed or injured will be the person driving within their capabilities! If you allow careless or questionable driving you won’t have as many people finishing races. Only 9 out of the field of 17 in TaG Masters finished the Qualifier. Some of that was self inflicted, but some wasn’t.

Enforcing the driving rules will force everyone to drive well and will keep more karts though the full race. This is not Stock car or even Nascar racing.

The best way to keep everyone healthy and driving at their best is to throw a black flag when deserved. Heck even wave a rolled flag from time to time. Not sure why that only happens when a bumper is dragging.

Easy big guy! I was speaking of this being in the past tense. Only thing we can do now is learn from it and not do it again. I obviously feel strongly as well or would not have made the comments I did.

    JJ,

You’re going to be racing in what may have some of the closest battles of any class. There is also very high degree of respect among racers in this class. For the most part there is not intentional blocking or contact. but you’ll be surprised at the amount of contact. Come show me your body work at the end of the season.

So I strongly disagree with you disagreeing with what I said, kinda. I think the young man needs to know whats up, the flaggers need take more agressive action (if Ian was here this would have been adressed instantly, but looks like he has his hands full right now) but mentioning it on the forum will get this info out. I also agree with flag review at the drivers meeting.

Honestly, the 1st race of the year can get a little rough. We have had some really bad 1st races before and maybe should lay out a longer drivers meeting at the the first race or so. Compared to 2 years ago at the first race at Grand Junction this went well!

Anyway, look forward to racing with you this year. Roman is blowing the rust off and we’re going to give you guys a run.

Schumacher perfected the art of the starting chop block and I never saw him black flagged for some of his aggressive blocking maneuvers while cursing the TV!

Like Rick said, easy trigger! The start of the season tends to have a little too much Rust, testosterone and lack of brains. I remember Grand Junction’s start to the CSC only too well while I sat and watched from the infield, after only 5 corners (of twenty laps).

We’ll get it calmed down. Like what’s been posted here. To finish first you must first finish….

Yea I am sure that everything will get worked out, I also remember that first race in Grand Junction a couple of years ago. I am sure that the tracks will also get the bugs worked out. Still cant figure out what happend with the weight. Qualified in 11th, scaled at 389…..ooops a pound light. Added 5 lbs (394 right?) to be safe sent to the back for the heat. Ran the heat and then scaled at 410! I know i didnt drink that much water! That was the first time i have driven anywhere but IMI in a kart, great place, very challenging. I was one of the ones to survive the masters race and that was pretty much the goals for the day, make it to the end.

I appreciate the time and effort a race director and corner judges put in. It is a lot of work that rarely gets even a pat on the back.

I had to test and qualify to be a Contest Director for R/C airplane races and combat. We start the first few contests of each year very strict to make sure everyone knows what cost points and what will get them DQ’d right away.

You are best to point out problems and nerfing on the first race, not later when someone will wonder why this time you decided to black flag them and not the previous time. At some point I may get flagged and I’ll try to learn what I did wrong.

I’d rather learn from a flag than from someone getting hurt. And I’d rather lwarn what is OK or careless AT THE BEGINNING of a season.

The CSC Rules are fairly clear and state that not only reckless, but careless driving will be penalized and can result in a black flag.

I’m not saying that 8 or 9 flags should have been pulled but it was pretty clear to me that over the course of the day 3 or 4 might have been in order from what I saw.

Anyone know what Ben’s quickest lap was? What times was Kyle running in the DD2?

BTW, I did see some awesome racing as well. Tyler was so cool for so many laps. I was extremely impressed. The other driver will learn as well but put in an incredible run for a new racer.

It was sad to see the bumper fall off in one of the Jr class karts when there was great racing going on at that level as well.

    Sorry Jack,

Nothing on mylaps yet and I looked at the sheets that were posted, then had a few beers (and those darn yeager-bull things) and can’t recall. Is Cody going to run one of the classes? What are the Utah boys doing this year anyway?

I just noticed in rereading your post Ian. HAPPY BIRTHDAY brotha!!! 😆 :rotate: :loony: 😉 ❗

We’ll have a cool one when you return!

    Rick,
The Reaction Karting team will have two drivers that will run stock moto in CSC (Cody and Brandon), Two or three in TAG masters, anywhere from 1-3 in TAG senior, and maybe a TAG junior. They can’t wait to go racing with you guys. Its always a blast to run the CSC races.

I was just wondering what lap times Ben was doing, because I think when Cody came home last from Colorado, he said he had quickest lap in a stock moto at The Track. He was curious if Ben turned a faster lap.

Sorry I’m late in getting the mylaps uploaded.
Been busy putting the place back together again.
I will have them up today by 9:00am

Thanks to all that came out for Race 1!

It was great having a field of 17 in TaG Masters.

Too bad the track and tires had cooled down so much by the final as I’m sure that caused a lot of the spinouts etc. etc.

The downside of starting in mid-march is that there are so few hours of daylight to run this many classes. Having the Fog roll in for the morning didn’t help but the weather was great after the fog burned off.
