So uhhh, does this mean I get to race this summer with NO WEIGHT on my Easykart? :idn: Or does one take a skeptical view and say that Easykart didn’t pay a homologation fee and thus the removal from the ‘approved’ list?

I assume I’ll still be able to race at last year’s weight, correct?

Here is the questions I have:

    1) Why did the Rotax weight get increased 10lbs and the Leopard weight stay the same? The leopard was either superior or even at all tracks.

    2) In 2006, the biland with new and old exhaust were differentiated by weight. Now in 2007, TAGUSA only has one weight for both? and they increased the weight by 15lbs?

I have the same question. Why was the weight increased for Biland? There are now three versions with each version making more power. Why would the original lower H.P. version suffer a weight increase? Will the CSC follow these weights?

    Yeah, what gives?! I certainly don’t like that… 😕

And it makes even less sense for TaG Junior. Rotaxes (in Junior configuration) were at a disadvantage at last year’s weights, and now they’re adding 10 pounds to the Rotax Jr. and keeping the Leopard at the same weight??? You’d have to be crazy to race a Rotax in the Junior class!

Instead of a TAG classs, why don’t we just call it a spec Leopard class? 😆

Since the motor does not make a big difference and it’s all about driver and kart setup why are the weights differen’t? While im on that subject why do some racers have more than one engine package for there respective classes? So confusing 😕

Even though it is mainly kart and driver, it is nice not to start at a disadvantage. I have this feeling though that the weights will be back to 06 specs fairly soon 😉

I just received an email from Marty Casey with TagUSA. The Rotax weights will be back to ’06 weights as soon as the web mistress gets it done.

Thanks for the correction, Doug. I edited my post to reflect the corrected Rotax weight at 360.

It seems strange to me that the Leopard is rated around 23hp while Rotax claims 27 hp, yet peole want to let the Rotax run at the same weight. ???
the whole point of having weight differences is to make up for differences in BHP and either Rotax is not putting out what they claim, or they should have a weight penalty to even things out. this should be easy to check on a dyno.

Peak hp is not the only indicator of an engine’s performance. On the dyno sheets I saw, the Rotax was the peakiest of the TaG engines. The Rotax may have the highest peak hp, but only over a relatively short rpm range. The other TaG motors have much flatter power curves, so they are stronger at lower rpm ranges.

The maximum rpm that an engine can turn also affects performance. Some of the other TaG motors turn more rpm than the Rotax, so on a track with a wide range of speeds shorter gearing can be run on those motors for the slow corners and they still won’t run out of revs on the straight.

Finally, on track results are a real performance indicator. We saw several different types of engines running up front this year. If the Rotax was dominant everybody would be switching to it, and that certainly wasn’t the case.

    Anybody have any ideas?

    Anybody have any ideas?

To make the market better for the new’est higher powered and priced Biland.
